How it works

What is Ketamine Assisted Treatment?

Ketamine Assisted Treatment is an innovative treatment that combines the
administration of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic, with supportive coaching sessions. The process includes three primary components – preparation, dosing sessions, and integration.

The Prep:

You will begin with a preparation coaching session to discuss goals and to get familiar with the process of Ketamine Assisted Treatment. After meeting with your guide, you will undergo a medical evaluation with our team to assess eligibility and receive a ketamine prescription.

Dosing Sessions:

A typical dosing session lasts 2.5 hours. You will self-administer your dose of ketamine and then spend the majority of the session relaxing with an eye mask on to encourage you to notice your inner experiences. Clients receive treatment sublingually through a tablet. Your guide will be present the entire time to ensure your safety and comfort.

Post-session:

It is vital for clients to process any emotions or feelings brought up during the ketamine session. The post-session coaching allows clients to make sense of their experiences and translate these feelings into actionable steps in their daily lives.

Integration:

1-2 days after each dosing session, you will have an integration coaching session to help you to make sense of your experiences and translate these feelings into actionable steps in your daily life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ketamine Assisted Treatment?

Ketamine-Assisted Treatment often proves more effective than IV ketamine infusions alone. Having a guide present often decreases anxiety for clients and makes the overall dosing process more enjoyable. Integrating guidance with ketamine can also help maximize the neuroplasticity-related benefits by helping clients identify and work towards specific treatment goals. This leads to more lasting and profound improvements in mental health. Additionally, at ReNewU, there are no needles or injections used to administer the ketamine. Instead, a tablet is placed inside the mouth while a guide accompanies you through the entire process ensuring you feel safe and comfortable.

How Does Ketamine Feel?

Many clients describe the feeling of ketamine as a meaningful, pleasant experience. During a session, you might experience a sense of detachment from your body, often described as feeling “far away” or “floaty.” Some clients also report feeling as if they are in a dream-like state that allows them to visualize situations differently. This shift in perception makes it easier to explore thoughts and feelings from new perspectives.

Is Everyone Eligible for Ketamine Assisted Treatment?

This form of treatment may not be right for everybody. At ReNewU, we take into consideration your medical history and current mental health to ensure ketamine is right for you. Every client completes an intake session and medical evaluation before treatment.

How Many Sessions are Necessary?

Typically, clients receive six to eight dosing sessions. Each individual is different and treatment frequency varies by need.
